Welcome!!

Hello everyone. Welcome to EarThought! This is my latest project which will attempt to share my enjoyment of several forms of audio entertainment. Mainly, I will be reviewing podcasts, audio dramas, and radio shows both terrestrial and those broadcast on Internet radio. Being totally blind, sound is of supreme importance in all areas of life. It's my primary sense. I therefore very much appreciate when people pay proper attention and take pains to create good audio experiences.

Over the years, I have acquired a very large collection of audio dramas. I tend to favor modern dramas as opposed to those from the era when radio was top dog. This collection exceeds 60 gigabytes. 'There is plenty of not so old ground to cover. I'll be reviewing these treasures and give you links to where you too can obtain them whenever this is possible. Podcasts are another wonderful and more recent addition to my audio consumption. I will be reviewing some old favorites and sharing any new finds which catch my interest.

While I won't hold back criticism when I feel that it is warranted, I'll be sticking to sharing what I ultimately enjoy. If I have nothing nice to say about a podcast or drama, you simply won't read about it. Occasionally, I'll review another emerging branch of audio entertainment which has held my deep interest. Audio games are gradually growing in number. Games have long been a key ingredient to my leisure and I'll review them from time to time. Music, though it is something I deeply appreciate, falls outside the scope of this blog. You have to draw the line somewhere even if you're totally blind.

This blog will grow in spurts. Over the next couple of weeks, I'll attempt to put out a good starting set of reviews. This will hopefully help people determine whether they want to participate and how much. Comments are most welcome. I hope the blog will be the seed for a healthy community of people who enjoy good audio entertainment. I'll try to do at least two reviews per month at a minimum. Recommendations are always appreciated. However, keep in mind that my wife and I are living on a fixed income and I won't always have funds available to obtain audio dramas. I'm happy to accept submissions as long as they are legal. Piracy and discussion of it will not be a welcome part of this community. Artists who produce audio entertainments deserve our support if we like what they produce.

You may wonder about the title of this blog. Earshot is an expression which means that something is within range of being heard. I've always liked it. Audio entertainment is thought-provoking. hence, EarThought. Mystery solved! I hope you enjoy this new project and look forward to hearing from you.
